The City of Chicago's annual Salute to LGBT veterans, "With Liberty and Justice for All," will take place Wed., Aug. 5, at 12 p.m. in Daley Plaza at Washington and Dearborn. The Chicago Commission on Human Relations' Advisory Councils on Veterans Affairs ( ACVA ) and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues ( ACLGBTI ) and the Chicago chapter of the American Veterans for Equal Rights ( AVER ) are co-hosting the free event.
Mayor Richard M. Daley will issue a proclamation in support of the salute. Luke Visconti, a member of the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel and the U.S. Navy Diversity Senior Advisory Group will be the keynote speaker and U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley will be the featured speaker. Nationally known jazz performer Spider Saloff and the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus will perform.
